For many years I worked as an acquisitions editor, first for Greenwood Publishers and then Kumarian Press. I believe that the sharing of scholarly knowledge need not result in sterile and hermetic tomes that interest only a few. Such works must engage both “specialists” and “lay-readers” alike. Knowledge must be socially useful, leading to overall improvement in the human condition.
